Christian graduated from the University of Grenoble where he studied Law and then Politics. His research on Scottish politics took him to Scotland in 1983 where later, in 1986, he started as an investment manager with Martin Currie Investment Management  covering European and Asian markets. He then moved in 1988 to British Linen Bank, part of the Bank of Scotland group, where he was in charge of European investment. In 1990, Christian joined Edinburgh Fund Managers where he was responsible for the European unit trust plus marketing in Canada and the US. After eight years at EFM, Christian joined Kempen Capital Management (UK) in 1998 where he was particularly involved in the marketing and management of their highly successful SRI funds and also with marketing the funds in Europe and Canada.

Christian joined Montanaro in May 2006.
