The European Smaller Companies Trust follows a similar investment approach to the open-ended Montanaro European Smaller Companies Fund. It invests primarily in Continental European small companies with a focus on those below €500 million.
It differs in being listed on the London Stock Exchange. A discount control mechanism is in place designed to ensure that shares are bought back in to treasury if the discount to Net Asset value exceeds 5%. In addition, it holds far lower investments in the United Kingdom.
